Big 3" Mother OG Jawbreaker Mushroom , WYSIWYG Coral

Rating is 0.0 out of five stars based on reviews

The photos are of the WYSIWYG coral on a large Alternative Reef frag disk.

One of the holy grails for all reefers. This mushroom is named for the expression the collectors had when they saw it at the wholesalers and man does the name fit! Jawbreakers have been in the hobby for a long time now, but their demand still exceeds their supply. Jawbreakers are sought after for the amount of coloration that can develop. Red, green, and even some purple are all colors found on a Jawbreaker.

When a natural baby is formed, it is typically all orange. Over time, the other colors will come with red usually being the first one. Specks of green may come in and is usually an indicator that the Jawbreaker is decently old. Purple spots generally comes down to luck, as some mushrooms never get that color. But usually 5+ year old mushrooms will gain a little bit of all colors.

  • Care Level

Best tried after you've had success with a few other easier corals first and have an understanding of basic reef chemistry such as keeping salinity, alkalinity, calicium, and magnesium levels consistent. The coral itself is very easy to care for if you test for your parameters often and have created a consistent maintanence routine for your reef!
