The Valentine's Day Massacre Zoanthid (often abbreviated as VDM Zoas) is a well loved collector's piece, instantly recognizable for its breathtaking and vivid fiery coloration. Each polyp showcases a spectacular contrast of solid, intensely saturated red-to-dark-orange body against their dark black markings. These polyps also fluorescent brightly under actinic lighting, giving your reef a pop of color.

These hardy Zoanthus corals are excellent for creating a vibrant red zoa garden on your live rock.

This Zoanthus species is an excellent choice for any level of reef keeper, readily adapting to a variety of tank conditions. They thrive in low to moderate lighting and prefer a moderate, indirect flow that keeps detritus from settling on the polyps without forcing them to constantly struggle to stay open.

With stable water parameters and proper placement, you can expect this VDM colony to quickly develop into a stunning, fiery zoa garden in your saltwater aquarium.

Lighting: Best maintained under low to moderate light conditions with a strong blue spectrum.Currently kept under Kessil A360X units. Mounting height 24" above water line. 12:00PM - 10:00PM at 100% blue intensity.

Water Flow: Prefers moderate, gentle flow to keep the polyps clean and free of detritus.

Feeding: While they can survive on light alone, targeted feeding of small coral pellets or powder will promote faster growth and health.

Placement: Provide adequate space from other corals for them to grow, and also that as they tend to get stung easily.

Note: Zoanthus coral but should always be handled with care. We advise wearing gloves and eye protection when working with any Zoanthid or Palythoa species.
